The North West of Ireland is undoubtedly a hidden gem for golfers worldwide.

The North West of Ireland offers some of the best links golf in Western Europe, as well as the country’s most picturesque landscapes, soaring sea cliffs and uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Starting in Mayo on Ireland’s West coast, you have the opportunity to play Carne Golf Club, one of the country’s best kept secrets, as well as County Sligo Golf Club and Enniscrone Golf Club. Moving into Donegal, you will be introduced to Rosapenna Golf Club and Ballyliffin Golf Club. The advantage of golf in the North West is that most courses have two courses and both are as good as each other. At Ballyliffin you have the Old Links and the more modern Glashedy links. At Rosapenna you have the Old Tom Morris, Sandy Hills, and soon to open St Patrick’s links courses. At County Sligo you have the Colt Championship and the Bomore links. The region is rich in golfing depth and we encourage you to experience it.

The North West is a region that will really benefit from having an experienced Driver Guide behind the wheel, meaning you don’t have to worry about the winding roads. The counties of Mayo, Sligo, and Donegal are all known for their physical beauty and boast attractions such as Ashford Castle, Westport, Benbulbin Mountain, Yeats’ Drive, Sligo Lakes, Slieve League, Glenveagh National Park, Fanad Head, the Inishowen Peninsula – just like the South West the list could truly go on and on and on!

The North West of Ireland is emerging as one of the country’s top golfing destinations and the region is doing its utmost best to keep into that demand. We not only ensure we capture the most suitable tee-times for you, we craft your itinerary in a way that minimises time spent on the road and maximises the golf and experiential side of your stay. Having your own Driver Guide is a must and there is no one better suited than our very own team of Golf Driver Guides who provide seamless private travel in our luxury vehicles. In addition to off the course touring suggestions, we also hand-pick and book wonderful accommodation and ensure easy access to evening entertainment. This means you can simply kick-back and enjoy the experience.

The North West offers you the ultimate flexibility as most courses have an additional 18 holes. With that being said, it is your requests that matter the most to us. We endeavour to make this a trip of a lifetime for you. Therefore, we can tailor your itinerary to suit your travel arrangements and specific requests. We can also add courses from other areas in Ireland and add helicopter transfers if desired.

Courses

Carne Golf Course

Carne Golf Course

What is impressive about Carne is that it is one of Ireland’s youngest links courses, yet Hackett’s design ensures the player feels that this course has been in play since the beginning of time. The course sits out on its own overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and is as wild as it is natural. The development of the course placed an emphasis on its wild and ancient landscape and did its very best to minimize any disturbance to its environment throughout the process. This is best portrayed in the ocean landscapes and towering sand dunes on the course which provides you with one of the most natural walks in golf not only in Ireland but in the entire world!

County Sligo Golf Club

There are two courses located in Rosses Point which make up County Sligo Golf Club – The Colt Championship Course and the Bowmore  Links. The Colt Course is County  Sligo’s marquee course.

Named after its designer, Harry Colt, this links masterpiece has been created by time, wind, and water. The course is surrounded by Drumcliffe Bay and overlooked by Ireland’s “Table Mountain,” Benbulbin.

When you combine each natural focal point and include the sandy beaches, the harbor , and the Atlantic Ocean, you have one magnificent view. It is the perfect setting for links golf.

Enniscrone Golf Club

Enniscrone Golf Club is another example of a world-class links course located on the northwest coast of Ireland. The Dunes Course juts out into Killala Bay and provides the golfer with another remarkable example of Ireland’s Atlantic coastal views. The course was founded initially as a 9-hole course but in 1974 The Dunes Course opened as a full 18 and has been a regular addition to most golf itineraries in Ireland.

Rosapenna Golf Club

Rosapenna Golf Club

Rosapenna is one of the most expansive resorts, not only in the Northwest, but all of Ireland. There are currently two courses here, the Sandy Hills Links and the Old Tom Morris Links. In 2021 there will be a new addition to the property, St Patrick’s links.

Ballyliffin Golf Club

Ballyliffin Golf Club

Ballyliffin Golf Club is Ireland’s most northerly located golf course and it can be found on the Atlantic edge of the picturesque Inishowen Peninsula. Much like Rosapenna, Ballyliffin boasts two magnificent links courses, the Old Links and the Glashedy Links – each course matches the other in terms of its quality. The Glashedy Links hosted the 2018 Irish Open which was won by Russell Knox after a play-off.

Galway City Walking Tour

Galway is Ireland’s cultural, language, traditional music and artistic capital. The city centre is famous for its lively ambience, street entertainment, shopping, cafes and pubs. As the centre of the city is all walking streets, this is best explored on foot starting at Eyre Square and ending at the Claddagh Quay or vice versa. The Latin Quarter is veritably buzzing from the eclectic legacy of a European influenced maritime past which starts at the Spanish Arch. Dining and pubs are numerous, and the Quays Bar, Naughton’s Pub and McDonagh’s seafood restaurant are all favourites.
