"the most perfect piece of land to build a golf course on"

Tralee Golf Club was founded in 1896. It was originally designed as a 9-hole course but in 1984, after the purchase of additional land and a redesign, Tralee became one of the most exciting 18 holes of golf in Ireland and in links golf today. It has been described by its designer, Arnold Palmer, as the most perfect piece of land to build a golf course on and has been fondly looked upon by some of the world’s finest golfers such as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Tralee Golf Club is another jewel in the crown of links golf in the South West of Ireland.

But we are here for the golf...

As Tralee Golf Course sits on the Atlantic Coast, expect a lot of wind. This wind, just like most links courses in the South West of Ireland, adds further character and personality to a course like Tralee and depending on the day and the direction of the wind you may play the same shot in a multitude of different ways. The course is tough. You must manoeuvre the towering dunes. You must find the right spots on the undulating fairways. You must avoid the punishing rough at all costs. And you will be tested to play off of elevated tees and to elevated greens. I think this pretty much sums up how links golf should be played. If you can manage all the aforementioned obstacles, then we greatly look forward to seeing the score you post.

Our Guests Say:

Tralee has some of the country’s finest Par 3s and the 7th hole, named The Randy, would be my pick of them. Protected by bunkers on the right keep your ball left and enjoy the scenic walk ahead of your birdie putt!

Our verdict:

It’s an Arnold Palmer designed links course! Need we say anymore?
